Technologies - Wave

Wave generation is the most complex of marine renewable energy technologies.  Currently there are around 40 different technologies under development around the world.  Part of the problem is that while there is large amount of energy in waves, it tends to have a very random nature.  That is to say the size, direction and frequency of waves can vary considerable in a relatively short period of time.

Wave generation can be broadly catergorised into three key areas:
