Norwich AGW Assessor - Norwich Anglian GoWarm
Contact Name: Jane Trow
Contact Email: janetrow@angliangowarm.org.uk
Contact Telephone: 07939 053025
Renewables East and Norwich City Council are bringing an exciting new energy efficiency project to Norwich and are looking for enthusiastic and committed people to help us deliver our aims of combating fuel poverty and significantly reducing household CO2 emissions in our residents' homes.
After much success in the North of England, Renewables East have brought the GoWarm model to the East of England and we are currently recruiting full and part-time Anglian GoWarm assessors to carry out home energy surveys in Norwich. The positions are offered on a self-employed basis at a rate of £5.00 paid for each completed doorstep survey.
At a time where there is huge competition for jobs and high levels of graduate unemployment why not take advantage of this opportunity to gain paid experience in the environmental sector?
What does the role involve?
The job will involve face-to-face discussions with householders (both private owner occupiers and tenants) to assess the basic energy characteristics of their properties (fuel types, insulation levels etc) and characteristics of the household itself (number of occupants, possible qualification for free measures through either age or benefits status). These will be in the form of doorstep assessments using Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) to record collected data. Information gathered will be used to identify energy efficiency measures, renewable energy measures and the possibility of increased benefit income for householders.
Role holders will be expected to work at times of day and on days of the week which maximise the number of assessments achievable; in practice this will mean some early evening and weekend work when appropriate.
Full training will be given to successful applicants including use of the PDAs, interviewing techniques and time management.
Who are we looking for?
Those filling the roles will need to be personable, able to communicate with a wide range of people, smart, be able to accurately record data and be willing to interact fully with IT systems. No previous experience or qualifications are necessary, rather a willingness to learn and full ‘on the job' familiarisation training will be given. Successful applicants will be expected to work under minimum supervision, and should be conscientious with a mature attitude.
A basic CRB check is required for all Anglian GoWarm assessors; whilst the Anglian GoWarm team will guide you through this process you are expected to fund and obtain your own check.
