The Board

Peter Rolton

Peter is an acknowledged specialist in the Renewable Energy Sector. He currently holds an appointment as an advisor to Ed Miliband Secretary of State for Energy in the new Department of Energy and Climate Change DECC. Peter is also a Director of Renewable's East the Renewable Energy Agency for the East of England.

As member of the Renewable's Advisory Board Peter provides independent technical expertise to the SOS and Senior Civil Servants on the deployment and policy formation around renewable energy.

As one of two representatives of the built environment he has acted as a consultee on numerous consultations and white papers. He presents to the SOS on a number of occasions around the subject of renewable planning and public sector engagement.

Peter is a graduate of the University of Northumbria with a Batchelor of Science Degree in Building Services Engineering. Having graduated in 1985 Peter commenced his professional training with Oscar Faber Consulting Engineers before moving on to work for the Cambridge practice, ETS Consulting Engineers. Peter founded Rolton Services Consultants Limited in 1989.

In 1999 Rolton Services became part of the Rolton Group and Peter became Managing Director in 2002 a post he held for 5 years before taking on the role of CEO to allow him to concentrate on the Renewable Energy Sector. Peter is also a founder and Director of Cool Planet Technologies a specialist Renewable Energy delivery Partner.

Peter is both a Chartered Building Services Engineer and a Chartered member of the institute of Energy.

Away from government business he provides high level strategic advice to a range of Public Sector and Commercial Clients; this includes advice on site wide Energy Planning, Zero Carbon Power Generation, Low Carbon Design, Carbon Offsetting and the Application of Renewable Technology.
